Frequently Asked Questions from Our Patients

Thanks to the modern anesthesia methods we use at our Gdańsk clinic, root canal treatment is usually painless. Local anesthesia eliminates pain during the procedure. Any post-treatment discomfort can be easily alleviated with commonly available painkillers.

Significant loss of hard tooth tissue and the inability to treat it with other methods (endodontic treatment, crown reconstruction) are the most common reasons for tooth extraction. Sometimes, extraction is also recommended for other reasons, such as the presence of wisdom teeth, problems with the oral cavity, or damage that is difficult to repair.

It's a multi-stage, highly individual process, meaning it can last from one day to several months. The stages are: implant placement, bone healing around the implant, preparation, and attachment of the dental crown to the implant. Any additional procedures (e.g., a gum lift) can extend the process. It's worth noting that in many cases, immediate implant placement is possible, involving tooth extraction and simultaneous implant placement. In certain situations, we can also place the implant and immediately place the prosthetic crown on the same day.

Of course. Anesthesia is standard practice in dentistry. At our Gdańsk clinic, we most often use local anesthesia. This eliminates pain and ensures maximum comfort for our patients during the procedure.

After a dental procedure, we must maintain proper oral hygiene. This includes brushing teeth regularly (at least twice a day), flossing, and using mouthwash. Furthermore, patients should follow their doctor's recommendations regarding healing time, diet, and other behaviors that may impact the success of treatment.

Practical Tips for Maintaining Good Oral Hygiene

Brushing your teeth is key. Brush your teeth daily – at least twice for 2 minutes. Use a fluoride toothpaste. Hold the toothbrush at a slight angle, around 45 degrees, so the bristles point toward the gumline. Brush your teeth using sweeping motions from the gum to the crown of the tooth.

You can't reach everywhere with a toothbrush. Dental floss helps you clean food particles from between your teeth and slows or stops the development of tartar. Furthermore, regular flossing reduces the risk of gum disease.

A six-month dental checkup is a surefire way to healthy, strong teeth and a beautiful smile. This regularity will allow for early detection of any problems and their prompt resolution.

A diet rich in vitamins and minerals – especially calcium and vitamin D – supports healthy teeth and bones. Sugars and acids are the main causes of tooth decay, so it's best to limit their consumption. Also, remember to stay well hydrated.

Smoking and drinking excessive amounts of alcohol are harmful to your overall health, but also to your teeth and oral health. They lead to many problems, such as oral cancer and periodontal disease. Quit them and take care of yourself to enjoy long-term well-being and healthy teeth.

Cracks and fractures of teeth are extremely problematic. When participating in sports, wear appropriate mouthguards. Do not open packages with your teeth, as this can lead to cracks, chips, or fractures.
